The Rodenbach brewery has a long and rich brewing history. It was established in 1820 by four brothers. It was Eugène Robenbach, one of their descendants, who brought the secrets of ageing in oak barrels from England.
The Rodenbach brand is known for its ageing process in large oak barrels in typical Flanders Red Ale-style, which gives the beer a distinctive sour flavour. The barrel-filled warehouse is an impressive sight and, for this reason, it is also known as Rodenbach’s ‘Beer Cathedral’.
