More than 160 years of tradition, quality and know-how. It all started in 1858 when Martin Belot, a farmer in Purnode, brewed beer for the first time in the outbuildings of his farm. At the very beginning, the beer was produced only in winter, the staff were not busy working in the fields outside the busy farming season. In addition, at Purnode, the discovery of a body of water of exceptional quality and quantity was an additional asset that helped with the brewing process to begin.
The Brewery offered consumers a very wide range of products, ranging from table beers to strong beers, including a whole range of densities, colours, bitterness and tastes. The brewer himself ensured the distribution of his products in a relatively small radius around the Brewery. It was at the beginning of the 20th century that La Gauloise, currently the oldest brand still produced at the Brasserie, a top-fermented brown beer, was brewed for the first time. From the start, this beer was an undeniable success.
